Six Sentence Sunday #25

Hey, fellow Sixers, and welcome to my first SSS in the new blog digs! Here’s another six sentences from the now infamous Badger: A Strange Tale of Love, Sex, and Vigilante Justice—the book that’s reacquainting me with the joys of the form rejection letter. My kingdom for an off-kilter, like-minded literary agent!

I toyed with a couple ideas—slapping him, spitting at him, pulling him down by the neck and biting his lip open again.

But not yet.

If this really was a rare thing for him, surely we’d have more chances. Surely he’d want me, truly want me, after all this.

Oh, bad thought, Adrian, terribly, terribly bad. Feigning a proclivity for masochism had to top even orgasm-fakery on the continuum of Stupid Shit to Do to Keep a Man.

If you’d like to read the other Badger excerpts I’ve posted, click here. And don’t forget to go check out all the other Six Sentence Sunday excerpts this week! Thanks for visiting.

I love both skirts you made! simple and really cute <3 where did you get the fabrics?

Thanks! I got the materials from my local Joann Fabrics. Both bolts were 44” wide, and I bought a yard and a half of each pattern, plus four and a half yards of each trim for the outer edges, and two yards of fold-over elastic for the waistbands.

“I feel like a lot of time my writing is like having about twenty boxes of Christmas decorations. But no tree. You’re going, ‘Where do I put this?’ Then they go, ‘Okay, you can have a tree, but we’ll blindfold you and you gotta cut it down with a spoon.’” —Carolyn Chute

2012 Goals Update

Just a quick update on my progress with the goals I set for 2012…

Recipes: 9/50
Of the fifty new recipes I’m planning to try this year, I’ve already done nine. I’m ahead of the game. My favorites so far have been the dark chocolate-dipped shortbread cookies and some crazy (and crazy-delicious) thing I made up involving a lot of green lentils, garlic and cumin.

Books to read: 12/100
Of the hundred books I aim to read in 2012, I’ve finished twelve. Considering how slow I read and the fact that two of them were in the Game of Thrones series, I won’t beat myself up for being a little behind—those suckers are long. Currently reading The Beans of Egypt, Maine, and about to start the seventh of the nine 2012 RITA contest entries I’m judging. Top secret, but there are some real goodies in my packet.

Miles run: 6.2/10
Ran my very first 10K this afternoon, which makes for my longest training run en route to ten miles. Hoping to reach this goal by my birthday in May. The key to running longer distances? Run really, really slowly, and load your playlist with up-tempo dance music.

Land an agent
Not yet. But I’m working on it!
